Ziele/Aims The students will acquire hands-on experience in molecular biology, developmental cell biology, and genetic approaches in Drosophila, as well as in documenting experimental results using microscopy.
Inhalte/Content We are interested in how looped organs such as the gut and heart are remodeled during development and how they acquire chirality. Using the fruit fly (Drosophila) testis as a model, we investigate how a motile layer of muscle precursors deforms the gonad, combining a wide range of experimental approaches.
Methoden/Methods We combine live imaging (Spinning Disc Microscopy), quantitative image analysis, genetic manipulation (e.g. RNAi, Mutants, conditional overexpression) and immunohistochemistry.
